UltraQuest Applications provides direct access to mainframe data and applications from the desktop through a Web-based interface, allowing simple and quick integration of mainframe systems to corporate intranets and extranets. Web access can be provided by a z/VM or z/OS Web server that runs directly on the mainframe, providing efficient and secure access with the ultimate in scalability. UltraQuest Applications also supports the UltraQuest Gateway which provides access to the mainframe through intermediate UNIX and Windows Web servers.

Processing can be done with traditional CGIs as well as with the background processing engine being based on the UltraQuest 4GL. This 4GL allows for access to a wide variety of data sources, for the heterogeneous joining and manipulation of data, for the production of reports and tables, and for the direct use of existing application logic and data

Data sources supported include DB2 for z/OS and OS/390, DB2 for VM, IMS, IDMS, Teradata, QSAM, and VSAM files.
