Student Awarded with Proceeds from Insurance Networking News’ Event
Valen Analytics, a Denver-based provider of proprietary data, analytics and predictive modeling for insurance carriers, hosted a ceremony to award the first Tomorrow’s Talent Challenge scholarship to Daniel Yedidovich, a high school senior at the Denver School of Science and Technology (DSST). Funds were raised by attendees at the Insurance Analytics Symposium and matched by Valen to cover Daniel’s cost of books and supplies at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he will study computer science.
“We’re thrilled to present this scholarship to Daniel for his academic excellence and impressive resume of extracurricular activities,” said Valen CEO, Dax Craig. “With the help of our peers in the industry, our goal is to continue rewarding students with a passion for math, science, and technology.”
Daniel is a member of the National Honor Society and was able to maintain his place in the top 10 percent of his class while taking the most challenging courses offered at DSST. Daniel’s extracurricular activities include clubs such as Drama, Improv, Acapella and Glee. Additionally, Daniel served as an intern at HDR Engineering, where he excelled in crash course physics and engineering, resulting in his design of a deck for an interstate bridge. Following that experience, Daniel was accepted into a highly selective internship program at Lockheed Martin.
In an effort to raise awareness for STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) education within the insurance industry, Valen became a member of the Change the Equation non-profit organization last fall. Motivated by this partnership, Valen established Tomorrow’s Talent Challenge to inspire youth to pursue a STEM education and explore careers in insurance analytics and technology. This initiative also allows the industry to help influence the educational system and produce the future workforce pipeline. More information about Valen’s Tomorrow’s Talent Challenge program is available online.
