The past two years have shaken the historical assumptions underpinning insurance and business models. The "Great Recession" has exposed underlying issues within the P&C insurance industry which are contributing to a lack of underwriting profitability which has proliferated in the industry for over 25 years, accumulating a deficit of almost half a trillion dollars at the top as highlighted by the Insurance Information Institute (III).
This new normal requires a new path forward. A truly new path must employ a modern, functionally-rich policy management solution to enable four key business transformation areas:
1. Customer centricity, expectations and insight
2. Innovative and rapid product development
3. New distribution channels
4. Underwriting and service excellence

Oakland, CA, October 25, 2011 – StoneRiver, a trusted insurance technology partner with substantial success in every line of business and every corner of the enterprise, today announced that its Universal Reinsurance System (URS®) has received a Silver Novarica ACE Ranking. URS earned the highest ranking of any reinsurance system in both the Functionality and Technology categories.

Novarica Average Customer Experience (ACE) Rankings are based on surveys of senior technology and operational executives at insurer, reinsurer and or financial institution clients who have direct experience with the vendor product and organization. Novarica ACE Rankings are produced independently and are not sponsored by the vendor. ACE Rankings provide a transparent, unedited picture of how well a solution or provider meets its customer’s needs.

“This is the first ACE Ranking for StoneRiver’s URS reinsurance system and we congratulate them on earning both a Silver Ranking and on scoring the highest among reinsurance systems in two important categories,” noted Matthew Josefowicz, Partner and Managing Director at Novarica’s insurance practice.

“I would like to thank the StoneRiver clients who took the time to participate in the ACE Ranking Survey, enabling us to earn a Silver Ranking. We also thank Novarica for sponsoring the ACE Rankings and giving us the opportunity to participate and learn through our clients’ feedback,” said Gary Sherne, President of StoneRiver, Inc. “We are proud of both the individual category and overall scores that we received, and especially for those in functionality and technology, which serve as the strong foundation of the URS product. We will work to enhance both our product and services to continue to earn our clients’ positive survey responses, our leadership scores, and to do even better in our next ACE Ranking.”

StoneRiver’s URS is a PC-based reinsurance administration system for ceded, assumed or retroceded reinsurance administration, regardless of volume. For years many carriers have relied on massive spreadsheets, physical documents and in-house experts to administer reinsurance. But the size of recoveries and the regulatory requirements for transparency make true automation a necessity if they want accuracy, reliability and peace of mind. StoneRiver has developed reinsurance systems for nearly two decades and has seasoned professional services team members with a track record of successful implementations.
