The past two years have shaken the historical assumptions underpinning insurance and business models. The "Great Recession" has exposed underlying issues within the P&C insurance industry which are contributing to a lack of underwriting profitability which has proliferated in the industry for over 25 years, accumulating a deficit of almost half a trillion dollars at the top as highlighted by the Insurance Information Institute (III).
This new normal requires a new path forward. A truly new path must employ a modern, functionally-rich policy management solution to enable four key business transformation areas:
1. Customer centricity, expectations and insight
2. Innovative and rapid product development
3. New distribution channels
4. Underwriting and service excellence

NEW YORK, NY - November 16, 2011 – OpTier, the leader in business transaction-driven Application Performance Management(APM), today announced the appointment of Mark Thompson as President reporting to the company CEO Israel Mazin. Thompson brings over two decades of sales and management experience to OpTier with deep experience in application performance, customer and partner relationships, and global expansion.

Prior to OpTier, Thompson served in nearly every sales role at CA Technologies where he was most recently general manager and managing director for global sales and sales support, leading more than 2,400 people in 17 countries, and responsible for bringing in yearly revenue in excess of $2.6B. While at CA, Thompson was appointed to CA's executive leadership team and previously held positions including corporate senior vice president / general manager of sales for the Americas and senior vice-president / general manager of sales for mid-Atlantic and federal.

"We are pleased to have someone as accomplished as Mark joining our team. He has an impressive track record as a hands-on leader capable of driving performance, motivating and transforming one of the largest software industry giants. His reputation in the industry and markets is extraordinary. Mark's innovative style and customer-first philosophy makes him a perfect complement to OpTier's vision as the leader in business transaction driven APM," said Israel Mazin, OpTier's CEO and Chairman of the Board. "In addition, his experience in working with customers and partners will be extremely valuable to OpTier as we rapidly expand our world-wide footprint and customer base, maintaining a clear commitment to our customers' success."

"Throughout my career, I have made it a habit of asking customers about advanced technologies and companies that are getting it right. OpTier has increasingly been on that short list because it offers the comprehensive application performance views customers are demanding in a single solution. Customers are growing tired of the overly complicated and fragile aggregation of dissimilar piece-parts; the so called Frankenstein offerings. Equally so, they realize that 'hope and pray' correlations from silo point tools will never satisfy their long term business requirements. OpTier has a truly elegant solution, attracting the very largest and mid-sized enterprises world-wide looking for competitive advantage, a business driven IT model and cloud readiness. This is exactly the solution customers are increasingly asking for to optimize their business," said Thompson. "OpTier has established itself in the market as the innovative player that has a following of successful customers, just look at the latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Application Performance Monitoring."
