The past two years have shaken the historical assumptions underpinning insurance and business models. The "Great Recession" has exposed underlying issues within the P&C insurance industry which are contributing to a lack of underwriting profitability which has proliferated in the industry for over 25 years, accumulating a deficit of almost half a trillion dollars at the top as highlighted by the Insurance Information Institute (III).
This new normal requires a new path forward. A truly new path must employ a modern, functionally-rich policy management solution to enable four key business transformation areas:
1. Customer centricity, expectations and insight
2. Innovative and rapid product development
3. New distribution channels
4. Underwriting and service excellence

Westborough, MA – January 4, 2011 – OneShield, Inc., the developer of OneShield Dragon®, an innovatively modern, rules ‐ and tools‐based, data‐driven policy management solution, is pleased to announce Dragon version 6.0 has achieved SAP certification as powered by the SAP NetWeaver® technology platform.

The SAP Integration and Certification Center (SAP ICC) has certified that Dragon 6.0 integrates with the SAP NetWeaver Composition Environment (SAP NetWeaver CE) 7.2 offering via the SAP integration scenario JAVAEE ‐NW 7.2. Achieving this certification confirms that Dragon 6.0 can be deployed successfully and run on the Java EE 5 engine of SAP NetWeaver CE.

“One of the main challenges in core system replacement is the integration of internal and external applications,” stated Matthew Josefowicz, director of Novarica and head of the insurance practice. “Turning to systems like OneShield that are certified for integration with solutions on an insurer’s existing infrastructure can reduce the risk and cost of these integrations.”

OneShield Dragon is a tools ‐based, data‐driven insurance underwriting, policy administration, rating and workflow system for personal, commercial and specialty lines of business. Based on proven insurance practices and a well ‐defined data model, Dragon provides configurable and modifiable options to meet today's goals and to adapt to future demands.

“Reducing operational risk and driving down total cost of ownership (TCO) is critical for P&C insurers,” stated Steve Forte, director insurance strategy & alliances at OneShield. “Obtaining commonalities in system landscapes, hardware, software and support skills will allow P&C insurers to achieve those goals.”
